What Are Filler Flowers?
Did you know there are flowers for specific parts of your bouquet and arrangements?
A filler, or accent flower, is a type of flower used purposefully as a bulk fill-in for flower arrangements and bouquets. These blooms usually cover gaps and spaces to essentially fill your design! This concept is used to bring fullness to an arrangement. They are also used to provide variety, texture, and extra color to floral designs.
What flowers are considered filler/accent flowers?
Mardi Gras Aster
Baby’s Breath
Queen Anne’s Lace
Bupleurum
Thistle
Liatris
Statice
Limonium
Waxflower
Alstroemeria
Hypericum Berries
Astilbe
Fun Fact: Some flowers can be considered both an accent flower and a focal flower. Hydrangeas, for example, are often used as accent flowers because of the full blooms and lush volume they provide. These are also considered focal flowers as they can easily draw attention to an arrangement with their fluffy petals.
